Value Stream Management (VSM) has been something that has been coming up more and more in the DevOps and EngProd communities.
Value Stream Management is about mapping the complete Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from task prioritisation to having a feature running in production.
Value Stream Management understands that in order to improve the pipeline from start-to-finish, it is important to start by looking at the whole process.
Once we have the complete value stream mapped, we can then calculate metrics like Cycle Time and drill-in on areas for improvement.
Improvement programmes like Theory of Constraints allow us to identify the biggest bottlenecks for our organisations and incrementally improve them, such that the Software Development Lifecycle moves faster.
This is fundamental to how EngProd teams operate.
